Perfection is a state of mind.

Somehow this line just popped into my brain for no reason and yes this deserved to be thought about. I think about times when we are done with a project (especially to do with art), and we exhale, it’s perfect.

So what do we really mean when we say so?

It simply just means satisfaction. In our hearts there is always a standard to a lot of things and when these unseen standards are met, we find the thing perfect. But frankly speaking, it’s subjective. For a person who knows more then others, who holds higher standards than others, it’s harder for them to reach that perfection. So why don’t we just lower down our expectations and we will be happier?

Well that’s the simple version of things. Upon further pondering and stepping out to look at the whole picture, it is evident that perfection in itself is an emotion contrary to popular beliefs of it as being something that one can chase after, something to be attained. Judging by this definition, there is no perfection in this world, then why is there even this word that exists? Why do we stress on being perfect? So is eternity. No one lives to see eternity, so why do we bother to think about eternity> (Alright, for Christians we know we have eternity in God and we have perfection in Him too, but stop and think about what these two words mean).

Now may I offer you a new version of perfection. Make perfect a word that means the best that can happen for this time, right now. Look around yourself, my room is messy and it is definitely not perfect if judging by your definiation, but with mine, I would say it is, for because, for now, it’s the best I can do. So it’s perfect for now.

Perfection is a choice, like joy. You can choose to see things around you and call them perfect or be upset over them because they are still so much to be done. Face it. There is always more to be done. Either you make do with it or say bye to perfection (remove that word from your dictionary). And yes, this is also one of the roots of joy. Perfection allows people to be happy, and since that is so, why don’t we allow ourselves feel perfect more often (that doesn’t mean brag) instead of pondering of ways we can make it attain some form of unattainable standards?

Okay. I don’t know what I am typing about.

So make sense from my confusion then.
